Alex Alexander, founded Colony in 1968 to manage a network of well-tended homes and neighborhoods built under his watchful eye, communities where people feel so connected to their homes and to each other that they grow roots and thrive. We’ve become Richmond’s most experienced apartment home property manager with over 45 years of Richmond property management expertise and an average team tenure of seven years. With over 1,600  homes under management, Colony is one of the largest multi family managers in the Greater Richmond area. Our residents feel pride and a sense of belonging.

Colony Asset Management is a division of Colony Management Corporation. We are a professional asset management company, specializing in conventional developments, low income housing tax credit properties, mixed use developments, historic and senior housing.

As a pre-approved Certified VHDA Management Company, the process of selecting Colony Asset Management as your managing agent is easy, as well as beneficial, when completing your VHDA Historic reuse/rehabilitation and/or new construction LIHTC property application. We are available to work with VHDA, your architect and general contractor during the construction process or simply manage your community during lease up and after completion.

We provide cost savings to our clients by combining our purchasing power with the other communities currently under management in the Richmond area. This provides a big savings to our clients on insurance, accounting, computer and maintenance items while maintaining a local flavor.
